Three years after the release of “Jason Bourne,” the fifth and most recent “Bourne” film, USA Network is inviting viewers to jump back into this fictional, action-packed world, based on Robert Ludlum’s “Bourne” novel series, with its new show, “Treadstone.”

Neither Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne nor Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross will be the focus, but “Treadstone,” which premieres tonight, is still very much connected to the movies and novels.

This time around, instead of centering on just one assassin, the show will follow multiple enhanced assassins involved in the CIA’s black ops Operation Treadstone program, both from back when the program was first initiated and in the present day.

“The first season of ‘Treadstone’ follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously ‘awakened’ to resume their deadly missions,” according to the synopsis.

Aside from being based on the same novels as the movie franchise and still following the activities of Operation Treadstone, the USA show is also executive produced by Ben Smith, who was a producer on the “Bourne” films, and the stunts have been choreographed by Buster Reeves, who was the original stunt choreographer for the movies.

Created by Tim Kring, the show’s cast includes Jeremy Irvine (“Mamma Mia 2”) as J. Randolf Bentley, Omar Metwally (“The Affair”) as Mr. Edwards, Michelle Forbes (“The Killing”) as Ellen Becker, Brian J. Smith (“Sense8”) as Doug McKenna and Hyo Joo Han (“Nonstop”) as SoYun Pak.

“Treadstone” premieres on USA Network on Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT.
