‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 16 Synopsis Leaked Online; What Will Happen In ‘While You Were Sleeping’? [PHOTOS]

“The Vampire Diaries” is currently juggling a lot of story lines. Between the mysterious Travelers, dangerous Enzo, Bonnie’s anchor issues, Damon’s vampire-eating virus and Elena’s werewolf venom-laced virus poisoning, fans of the CW series have a lot of drama on their plates. But some of those story lines may be folding into one great one in episode 16, “While You Were Sleeping.”

According to a leaked synopsis, it will be up to Stefan to explain to Elena what happened during the time Katherine had control of her body. And unfortunately for Stefan, that includes some less than favorable information – like the fact that Katherine poisoned Elena with Dr. Wes' werewolf venom-laced virus and that Damon was injected with Dr. Wes’ serum that forces vampires to feed on other vampires. Elena’s first instinct will be to call Damon (who has to be chained up), but Damon’s still struggling to figure out “how to make a disturbing confession” to his girlfriend … presumably about killing her good friend Aaron.

Meanwhile, Caroline will be playing detective and digging through Dr. Wes’ files to try to find a solution to their problems, and it appears the discovery of a “frightening secret” may lead only to more problems for the Mystic Falls gang. But “Vampire Diaries” fans shouldn’t get too nervous. Enzo may be holding onto the solution to everyone’s problems. The former Augustine vampire makes Caroline and Stefan meet at a mysterious location where they are joined by a group of Travelers, and Dr. Wes’ benefactor, Sloan. And while the end goal of the Travelers is uncertain, Sloan has “new information on the importance of doppelgangers.”

Fortunately the latest drama isn’t causing the girls to miss any classes because Whitmore’s on spring break. But that doesn’t mean Elena will be alone on campus. The poisoned vampire will run into Luke, “a student who seems to know her, though she has no memory of meeting him.” The synopsis teases that after a breakup with his boyfriend, Luke wants to spend spring break getting drunk with Elena. But Elena “sends him off on an urgent mission to find Bonnie and the ‘newbie’ witch, Liv.”

And while all that seems like a lot to cram into an hourlong episode, “Vampire Diaries” viewers are going to want to pay attention to the final moments of “While You Were Sleeping” … because Damon and Elena will “come to a new agreement about their relationship” after Damon comes clean about his “recent activities.”

Will Damon and Elena break up? Will she give him a second chance? What do the travelers have to reveal about doppelgangers? Unfortunately “Vampire Diaries” fans are going to have to wait a week to get their questions answered in episode 16. Instead of airing this Thursday, “While You Were Sleeping” will air on March 20.
