‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 17 Synopsis Leaked Online; What Will Happen In ‘Rescue Me’? [VIDEO & PHOTOS]

Get ready for a new villain on “The Vampire Diaries.” The Mystic Falls gang may have successful fought off Silas, Katherine and countless other threats, but this time things may be different. Episode 17, “Rescue Me,” will introduce Markos – the leader of the mysterious Travelers.

When “Vampire Diaries” viewers left off, the Travelers offered Caroline and Stefan the cure for the virus plaguing Damon and Elena. The only problem was that they wanted something in return – the elimination of Stefan’s other doppelganger.

Using a spell similar to the one that Tessa used, Sloan and the Travelers linked Stefan to his doppelganger in order to kill him. But to save Stefan from pain and having his memory wiped clean, Caroline was forced to make a deal with them.

According to a leaked synopsis for episode 17, Caroline’s deal with the Travelers will involve her taking a trip with Enzo to find Stefan’s doppelganger (who works as an EMT) and kill him. And while the two are strictly taking the trip for business, they will ultimately grow closer when Enzo opens up about his past.

Meanwhile, Elena and Damon will be heading back to some sort of normalcy … by attending Jeremy’s parent-teacher conference. But in usual Delena fashion, nothing is ever easy. Jeremy’s teachers have some “bad news about his behavior at school,” and Damon will be forced to tell Elena “upsetting news about Jeremy’s personal life.”

Back at Whitmore College, Bonnie will run into Luke. As viewers saw in the previous episode, Luke and Liv are hiding a secret that could put the Mystic Falls gang in danger, and it appears Bonnie may be catching on. Her encounter with her college classmate will leave her “unsettled” as she learns more about his family history. And while Bonnie’s with Luke, Jeremy will be hanging with Liv. The “newbie” witch will “fill Jeremy in on the rumors about the Travelers’ next move” and demonstrate her “considerable power,” something she has been hiding from Bonnie.

And no “Vampire Diaries” episode would be complete without a threat – “a terrifying turn of events at the Travelers’ camp leads to the appearance of their mysterious leader, Markos.”
