‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Expect Steamy Damon And Elena Hookup In Episode 16, ‘While You Were Sleeping’

Fabulous news for Delena shippers! You can breathe a sigh of relief because Damon and Elena will be back on when “The Vampire Diaries” returns to the CW with episode 16 on March 20.

TV’s hottest couple has faced quite a bit of drama in the past few weeks. After breaking up (again), the pair decided to fight for their relationship. But an evil doppelganger by the name of Katherine managed to screw up their happy ending. Instead of reuniting, a Katherine-possessed Elena broke things off with Damon for good … sending him spiraling into one of his out-of-control and crazy killing sprees.

Fortunately the gang was able to get Elena back (and send Katherine to Hell), but that doesn’t mean that Damon and Elena will finally get their fairy-tale ending. Both Damon and Elena are suffering from some very serious side effects of Katherine’s destructive path.

“Vampire Diaries” fans will remember that Damon ended up killing Elena’s college friend, Aaron Whitmore. Damon has yet to break the news to her, and that’s not the only thing he’ll be struggling with in episode 16. Since getting infected with Dr. Wes’ virus, Damon must be chained up or risk putting all his vampire friends in danger.

Elena on the other hand will have to learn from Stefan about all the drama that happened while Katherine had control of her body. And based off a sneak peek video of “While You Were Sleeping,” it sounds like Bonnie will be forced to ask Liv for help in using a magical seal to keep Elena confined to her dorm room. Why does Elena have to be locked up, you may ask? Because the brunette doppelganger has been infected with Dr. Wes’ werewolf venom-laced virus. Like Damon, Elena will have the urge to feed on vampires … but the werewolf venom has the potential to kill her AND any of her vampire friends that she accidentally bites.

So, how is any of this good news for Damon and Elena? According to TV Line, the virus may have made Elena lose her hunger for human blood, but it certainly hasn’t caused her to lose her libido. “There’s some sexy time happening,” Damon’s Ian Somerhalder told the site. “Exes, man. What are you going to do?”

When this steamy hookup occurs in episode 16 is unknown, but “Vampire Diaries” fans won’t want to miss the final moments of “While You Were Sleeping.” As we previously reported, Damon and Elena will “come to a new agreement about their relationship” after Damon comes clean about his “recent activities.”
