‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 20 Synopsis Leaked Online; What Will Happen In ‘What Lies Beneath’?

Brace yourselves, “Vampire Diaries” fans. The popular CW series will be pulling a couple of pages out of an old horror film when episode 20 airs on May 1.

“Secluded cabin … sexual tension … a killer on the loose,” teases the promo video for the upcoming episode. “What could possibly go wrong?”

Episode 20, “What Lies Beneath,” will find Tyler finally managing to escape the Travelers. Armed with the knowledge of how Markos plans on breaking the witches’ curse, the hybrid will immediately run to the Salvatore house to break the news. And that sends everyone into panic mode!

With Elena and Stefan in some serious danger, Damon and Caroline will come up with a plan to hide out at a “remote cabin once owned by Caroline’s father.” But keeping the doppelganger’s safe gets put on the backburner when Caroline and Damon decide to try and expose an obvious secret being kept by Stefan and Elena … more than likely about the accidental death of Enzo.

It’s unclear if Stefan and Elena will come clean to Damon about killing his friend, but it sounds like Enzo will be attempting to expose the secret all on his own. According to the synopsis for episode 20, “a ghostly presence at the cabin uses violence and fire to make itself known.”

Is the “ghostly presence” definitely Enzo? Fans will have to wait and see, but with the Other Side crumbling it’s possible that another dead supernatural villain is out for revenge.

Needless to say, the cabin trip may end up causing more trouble for the gang.

Meanwhile back in Mystic Falls, Matt will “take charge of Tyler’s plan to get information from on the Travelers.” The only twist is that Tyler lost the Travelers knife, which means that he can’t always be trusted.

Bonnie will also be battling her own issues when Grams shows up with another warning. But Bonnie is bent on keeping the truth about the Other Side a secret from Jeremy.
