'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Are Damon And Elena Done For Good? New Details On Delena Reunion [POLL]

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 is about to throw another curveball at Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Last episode, he was planning his sexy reunion with Elena (Nina Dobrev), but he's in for a major reality check in episode 6 after he discovers that Elena erased him from her memory.

"All that he wanted was to come home to his girl and just hold her and have her say everything is going to be O.K., and it doesn't pan out that way," Somerhalder told TV Guide.

Not only did Elena have Alaric (Matt Davis) erase how much she loved Damon, she left all the bad memories intact. Damon has just worked his way out of Kai’s (Chris Wood) hell dimension, and now he needs to work on getting the love of his life back. It’s not like she hasn't forgiven him before, right?

Well, Elena erased all of his redeeming qualities. She doesn’t remember him stepping in at the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, their steamy road trip to Denver, or Damon’s declaration of love when he was dying from a werewolf bite — but the influence of Elena's friends might help Damon win her back.

“There’s also that curiosity because she’s like, ‘Well, everyone is telling me it’s true,’ so it’s like a huge struggle that she’s having internally,” Dobrev explained

"When it comes to Damon, without the good, there's a whole lot of bad,” showrunner Julie Plec told E Online. “And Elena's still very much focused on that. However, not knowing the full story of their relationship will eventually begin to gnaw at her, and she'll have to decide if that's something she can live with."

She just might be able to. It doesn’t sound like Damon and Elena will get back together any time soon, and Elena will be spending more time with her new love interest, Liam (Marco James). "The show was so Delena-heavy,” Dobrev added. “And their love was such an epic love and such a big story point for so many years that it's a strange dynamic now to have all that gone. Which is kind of what makes it interesting, because it's an Elena we've never seen before."

Damon won’t give up easily, though. After all, he waited over 100 years when he thought Katherine was stuck in a tomb. Expect Damon to try to convince Elena that they belong together. "At the end of the day, it is for love and he's going to try everything he can to get her back and win her back," Somerhalder said.
