‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘Live Through This’? [VIDEO]
Nobody can avoid the past forever, especially those on “The Vampire Diaries.” In episode 4 of the CW drama, Valerie’s (Elizabeth Blackmore) spell was finally lifted and Caroline’s (Candice King) skin no longer burned Stefan (Paul Wesley). However, the Salvatore and the Heretic will still be forced into a meeting, according to the synopsis for episode 5, titled “Live Through This.”
“At Caroline’s urging, Stefan comes face-to-face with Valerie and learns some upsetting details about her past,” the synopsis teases. Will she finally reveal that she was pregnant with his baby before she died? Hopefully, she’ll include some details about Julian (Todd Lasance) because he might return sooner than expected.
“Lily prepares for the arrival of a special figure from her past,” the synopsis says. Julian would be the obvious choice, but he isn’t her only suitor. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) has made his romantic feelings for the Salvatore matriarch quite clear. In episode 5, he’ll stay at Lily’s side, but he “stands by not sure what to expect.”
Of course, Enzo won’t just stand with Lily, waiting to meet her old flame. He will somehow find trouble with Bonnie (Kat Graham). The two “find themselves at odds when they’re forced to fend off a violent threat,” according to the summary. Could the new danger be related to the Phoenix Stone? Bonnie used it when she brought Jo (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) back from the dead in “The Vampire Diaries” last week, and there might be some consequences associated with bringing someone back to life. The witch “learns some disturbing information involving the Phoenix Stone” that leads to a confrontation with Alaric (Matt Davis).
It isn’t clear whether Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will be involved in the dispute between his best friends. It appears that bad boy will be busy attempting to adapt a new outlook. “After realizing the downward spiral he was on, Damon ... decides he’s going to turn over a new leaf and that his actions moving forward will do right by Elena,” the synopsis teases. Damon will try to do the right thing -- but does he even know what that is?

Although it isn’t mentioned in the synopsis, this is the episode that will finally include a look at Bonnie’s future, which includes her new love interest. “The inspiration behind future Bonnie was sort of Helena Bonham Carter in ‘Fight Club’ -- a little more of a bad girl, as well as someone who’s hiding a secret,” Graham revealed to TVLine. “It’s very different from the other flash-forwards you’ll see. Oh, and this one has the huge reveal of who I end up with!”
“The Vampire Diaries,” Season 7, episode 5 airs on the CW Thursday at 8 p.m. EST.
