‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Ian Somerhalder And Nikki Reed Reveal Honeymoon Details; Find Out Where They Spent Their Post-Wedding Vacation

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s honeymoon is officially over, but they’re still clearly in the honeymoon phase of their marriage. Somerhalder posted that they’d just returned from their post-wedding vacation on Instagram Wednesday, along with a sweet message to his new wife.

“Feet back on U.S. soil aka... New York City,” the "Vampire Diaries" star wrote. “Dreaming of the Costa Rica rainforest. Thank you to this beautiful country: its land and its people. Thank you to this beautiful woman who makes every day a dream come true.”

Somerhalder, 36, posted the message with a picture of himself (sans shirt) and Reed, 26. The two actors were married in Topanga, California, on April 26 in a private ceremony. The couple started dating last year and announced their engagement in January.

The newlyweds have been traveling all over for their honeymoon. “Both of their schedules are pretty clear for a while,” a source revealed to Us Weekly. “They’re planning an extravagant trip around the world!”

It seems Costa Rica was just the last stop on Ian and Nikki’s post-wedding tour. Us Weekly reports that their first stop was Mexico. Then the stars updated fans on Instagram while they were in Brazil. That leg of the trip involved a little bit of work for Somerhalder, who had to attend a “Vampire Diaries” convention. Reed was happy to tag along and it seems her husband’s fans gave the “Twilight” actress a warm welcome.

“I was so overwhelmed by all of the happiness and excitement you were experiencing in that exact moment, and I'm so grateful I got to experience it alongside you,” Reed wrote to her admirers in Brazil. “Your country is so beautiful, you're so beautiful and coming here, seeing all of the love, feeling all of the energy, has really inspired me.”

After meeting with fans, Reed, posted a picture from Santiago, a city in the Dominican Republic. They couple wrapped up their honeymoon in Costa Rica.

Somerhalder isn’t the only “Vampire Diaries” star traveling. His ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev is on her own vacation. The actress is on a cross country road trip with friends, which fans can keep track of via her Instagram. Dobrev, 26, has shown her support for Somerhalder’s marriage on social media and also recently addressed the issue in an interview to promote the “Vampire Diaries” Season 6 finale.

“When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful,” Dobrev told E! Online. “They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it's not with us.”
