Vladimir Doronin Runs From Naomi Campbell: Awkward Encounter In New York
Vladimir Doronin may still be afraid of ex Naomi Campbell’s wrath, though they ended their relationship in May. On Tuesday night, the two ran into one another in New York, and while Campbell seemed fine, Doronin did not have the same reaction.
The New York Post’s Page Six states that both ended up at Monarch, a soon-to-open restaurant, Tuesday night. The British supermodel was there for an Interview magazine party. She is one of the beauties featured in their latest issue. Around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, she went to a VIP table that was near Doronin.
“Only a security guard separated them,” a source said. While Campbell displayed no reaction, the billionaire left immediately. “She went in, and he came right out,” a witness went on to say.
Just two weeks ago, they also bumped into each other while partying in Ibiza. Again, the 42-year-old supermodel was unfazed. She was with fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, as well as Maxwell and Paris Hilton. Doronin sat behind the group of celebrities. “The atmosphere was icy. They didn’t speak even though they were at a table right next to one another,” a source told Page Six.
The former couple had a nasty split as Doronin moved on to Campbell’s protégé Luo Zilin, 25, in June.
Luo was on Campbell’s “Team Naomi” on the modeling competition show "The Face" earlier this year, becoming a runner-up, thanks to Campbell's mentoring.
After Luo and Doronin publicized their relationship, the supermodel reportedly tried to get the 25-year-old model fired by her Chinese modeling agent.
The aspiring model was fired shortly after from her management company. Neal Hamil, president of MIX Model Management NYC, blamed Luo’s lack of work ethic for her getting canned, but it is suspected that Campbell had a hand in it as well.
