Wale Welcomes Baby Girl; Reveals He Kept Girlfriend’s Pregnancy A Secret Because Of Past Miscarriage
Wale just announced some exciting news— he’s a father! The rapper took to Instagram and Twitter to tell fans that he and his longtime girlfriend Chloe Alexis Jourdan welcomed a baby girl named Zyla Moon Oluwakemi.
According to TMZ, Jourdan gave birth Friday in a New York City hospital. The outlet reported that it was a long delivery for the couple and that Jourdan went into labor on Wednesday. Wale confirmed the news posting an Instagram photo of him holding the newborn’s tiny hand. In the lengthy caption, the rapper gushed about his baby girl revealing that he kept his and Jourdan’s pregnancy news a secret because of the pain he went through when he previously lost his unborn child.
“Overjoyed. I keep the most important things in my life so far away from people because I’m sensitive. Quite possibly too sensitive to even be in this business nevertheless I spoke on the downward spiral that ensued complications with my previous child… For that reason I kept this very private as I prayed every day to receive his blessing,” he wrote.
Wale also talked about wanting to become a better person for his daughter and his hopes that he can raise her to be an “absolute queen.” “I’m so flawed I’m so imperfect and the world knows it… I just want to honestly be the best version of myself I can be,” he posted. “My focus is renewed I’m infinitely in love with my princess and I truly appreciate all the love you have shown her and how understanding many people who knew were. Imma keep working on me and pray to God I can design a young princess who flourishes to an absolute queen.”
Wale, who canceled an appearance Friday at the One Africa Music Fest because of his daughter’s arrival, has also been gushing about the baby girl on Twitter.
During an interview last year with Billboard, Wale discussed how difficult it was when an ex-girlfriend miscarried around 10 or 11 weeks. “I was visualizing my child’s face,” he said. “We gave it a name and everything. All of that went away.”
