Was MTV’s ‘Jersey Shore’ Actually Scripted? Snooki Reveals The Truth

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who starred on MTV’s reality series “Jersey Shore” during its run from 2009 until 2012, is always very forthcoming about the show and herself on her social media platforms, and that rang true again on Friday when a fan had an important question.

A fan wanted to know if the MTV series was scripted or not, and Snooki had a very “Jersey Shore” response.

“I know my girl @snooki can confirm or deny this,” a supporter of the series and of Snooki’s tweeted to her, linking to a story claiming that “Jersey Shore” had scripts above its cameras for the cast.

The tweet contained images from a piece, “15 Shocking Secrets Reality Show Producers Don’t Want You To Know,” from a website called The Richest. The 10th item on the list declared that the cast had scripts to read from above the cameras while filming, along with a few other interesting and critical statements about the show.

“‘Jersey Shore’ is a trashy MTV reality show that seemed to really help spiral reality TV, in general, way down into the dark depths of garbage entertainment. It’s basically a bunch of uneducated people with drinking problems living in a house together. It’s a great show to zone out to or great material to make fun of if you need to feel better about yourself,” the author wrote about the show in the post. “When it comes to a show like this, it’s really not all that surprising to find out that a good portion of it is actually scripted. The sad part about that? They actually have to have scripts off screen above the camera for when the cast forgets what to do next. We’re not talking about an academy award-nominated foreign investigative documentary here. These people actually needed help remembering lines for a show where people get drunk and either fight or sleep with each other. ”

Despite the words trashing the series and the assertion that the show was scripted, Snooki only laughed it all off and responded in true Snooki fashion.

“Lmao I wish I could say it was scripted to tell m kids that but it was all real because we are/were drunk [expletive],” she replied to the fan.

Although Snooki said they didn’t use scripts, it wouldn’t be the first time an MTV reality show was revealed to be less-than-real. The cast and crew of “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills” have shared over the years that quite a few parts of these shows were redone multiple times or sometimes completely made up.

Here’s hoping the realness continues, though, as Snooki and JWoww make their way to a brand new reality show, this time on VH1. The show is tentatively titled “Celebrity Shore” and will also feature “Mob Wives” star Drita D’avanzo, though it is unclear when the new series will air on the network.

What is known is that it will focus on Snooki and JWoww as they, and their reality star friends, return to the Jersey Shore beach for yet another exciting (and likely crazy) summer.
