Was Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ TV Show Release Date Revealed?
Netflix has been keeping news about the highly anticipated series “The Witcher” top secret. However, it seems a social media post may have revealed the release date.
According to CBR, Netflix took to Facebook to countdown the nights until some popular series return or launch. Most of them have announced dates, like “The Crown” Season 3. The post said it was 67 nights until the historical drama premieres on Nov. 17. The next title was “The Witcher” with 97 nights.
If that release date is official, that means “The Witcher” is coming out in December, likely on or around Dec. 17.
However, the Netflix post no longer appears. It was reportedly deleted shortly after being posted.
“The Witcher” Season 1 release date has not been confirmed, though rumors have long hinted at a December drop. A deleted Instagram post from a crew member reportedly mentioned being excited to see it air in the final month of the year.
Dec. 20 was long rumored to be the exact release date. Netflix often drops original series on Fridays, so that made sense. Dec. 17 is a Tuesday, but it seems like the streamer is trying out non-Friday release dates for many shows. “The Crown” Season 3 will debut on a Sunday. While Fridays remain a popular premiere date, the September release list shows Netflix is dropping more and more titles on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
“The Witcher” is based on the Witcher Saga book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which inspired the popular video game. It follows monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) as he tries to figure out his place in the world alongside sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and princess Ciri (Freya Allan).
