Wells Adams thinks Ben Higgins is the outlier of “The Bachelor” for receiving a different treatment from the viewers.
Adams appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s “The Bachelorette” season. Fletcher is the runner-up of Higgin’s “The Bachelor” season. Adams shared his thoughts about the reality dating show. According to him, it’s never about the leads, adding that most of the “Bachelor” leads are often disliked after the show and that is the norm.
Adams also spoke about former “Bachelor” Peter Weber. He opened up about the criticisms Weber received and compared the treatment he received from another “Bachelor” alum, Higgins.
“I think that’s such a tough thing to be good at. You innately want to hate somebody that has so many beautiful women going after them, no man really deserves that,” the bartender told Us Weekly on Friday (May 1). “You’re just under this microscope. Good on Ben [Higgins], Ben’s one of my best friends. The fact that he was able to do that and had people like him, that’s not the norm. He’s the outlier there. So whoever’s going to be the person is going to be disliked. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work out for him and I feel bad for him.”
Adams defended the pilot and said that his decisions was what he believed was right. Sarah Hayland’s fiancé also reminded everyone that the show was never about the leads, but those who are aiming to win their hearts.
“Here’s the thing though and everyone forgets this — the show isn’t about the lead, never has been. The show is about all the women there for the lead or all the men there for the lead,” he explained. “Unfortunately, the spotlight gets put on Peter and he’s a super nice guy and I’m sure he meant well and it just didn’t go well for him.”
Adams is hoping to see Weber on “Bachelor in Paradise.” When informed that he is currently dating Kelly Flanagan, he said that it was great and added, “what if they break up between now and then, and then they both come to ‘Paradise’!”
Meanwhile, Adams is already engaged with the “Modern Family” star, Hayland. In March, the actress tagged Fletcher and thanked her for dumping Adams on her season.
Fletcher who is still with the Jordan Rodgers, the man she chose on the show, commented with, “lol! I think it allllll worked out perfectlyyyyyy.”
