Wendy Williams’ Lymphedema ‘Very Evident’ During Latest NYC Outing

Wendy Williams shocked many of her fans last month when she publicly revealed that she was diagnosed with lymphedema. This week, her medical condition was very evident when she stepped out in New York City.

On Tuesday, the talk show host was snapped stepping out in the Big Apple while enjoying the summer hiatus of her television show. Williams donned a colorful animal print miniskirt and a black top for the outing. She carried two bags and accessorized with diamond jewelry.

Wendy appeared to be in high spirits, but it wasn’t her positive aura that caught the attention of some of her fans. In the photos obtained by Daily Mail, Wendy’s legs are evidently swollen, and so many wondered if she’s well.

Apparently, the swelling is a symptom of her condition, and she’s well aware that fans are taking notice of it. She even addressed it in an episode of “The Wendy Williams Show” a few months ago.

“Lymphedema, by the way, I’ve been diagnosed. It’s not going to kill me, but I do have a machine — and how dare you talk about the swelling of it all,” she said.

“I’ve got it under control and if [the swelling in] my feet and lower thighs never go all the way down, at least I have this machine. I sit for 45 minutes a day. And believe me, it’s the best party entertainer ever.”

According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), lymphedema is a condition wherein there is buildup of fluid in soft body tissues because the lymph system is blocked or damaged. The swelling typically affects the arms and legs, but it could also affect other body parts.

Prior to announcing her lymphedema diagnosis, Williams took some time off her show earlier this year because she was also diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects her thyroid gland, as per ABC News.

Aside from her health issues, Williams is also currently dealing with her ongoing divorce from ex-husband Kevin Hunter. Surprisingly, she has recently decided to rehire Hunter as her business manager even though he was involved in a long-term affair with massage therapist Sharina Hudson.

Meanwhile, Wendy is currently preparing to go on tour. She’s doing comedy shows at various venues. She is scheduled to perform at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Aug. 17.
