What Happened To John Mayer? Why Singer Canceled Dec. 5 Concert
Singer John Mayer is currently in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy, and his band Dead & Company have decided to postpone their Tuesday night concert.
“Early this morning, Tuesday, Dec. 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company Dec. 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed,” the band’s official Twitter account posted on Tuesday.
Along with Mayer, Dead & Company consists of Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, as well as Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.
The band is currently on their fall tour and was supposed to perform in New Orleans Tuesday night, but they have decided to postpone the event while Mayer undergoes surgery to remove his appendix.
There is no news yet on the surgery’s outcome.
The band has not decided on when the New Orleans concert will be postponed until, and they also have not announced any changes to other upcoming dates.
Dead & Company is currently next scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. After that, they have another stop in the state on Friday at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
While the group doesn’t currently have anything scheduled after its Friday concert until next February, Mayer has a few solo shows lined up for this month. He’s currently set to play at the Alice in Winterland concert in San Francisco with Matt Nathanson and Maren Morris on Dec. 12. He also has two Controlled Danger shows with Dave Chappelle on the calendar for Dec. 30 in Los Angeles and on Dec. 31 in Inglewood, CA.
Whether or not he will be able to perform at these December shows has not yet been announced.
