What Jennifer Garner Said About Ben Affleck After Split: ‘Don’t Hate Him’
Jennifer Garner didn’t want the people to hate her ex-husband Ben Affleck.
In June 2015, Garner and Affleck shocked the public when they announced their split just a day after they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. It has been four years and here are the things that the “Peppermint” star said about the “Batman vs Superman” actor, according to Entertainment Tonight.
In February 2016, Garner graced the cover of Vanity Fair. During her interview, she said that her union with Affleck was a "real marriage" and was not for the cameras. She added that it was her priority to stay, but it just didn’t work.
“No one needs to hate [Ben] for me. I don’t hate him. Certainly, we don’t have to beat the guy up. Don’t worry — my eyes were wide open during the marriage,” Garner said.
In August 2016, Garner described their family unit as a “modern family” and added that they were doing very well. In fact, she took their three children to London where Affleck was filming “Justice League” at the time.
Garner said that she remained friends with Affleck, they just went "en masse."
In October 2016, Garner spoke with ET’s Denny Directo at the Save the Children Illumination Gala and shared how she an Affleck chose to raise their brood.
“It’s so important that you model for your kids how to be a citizen of the world, and I think that’s the best thing you can do,” Garner said on how she and Affleck dedicated their time, resources and energy on different causes to make the world a better place.
In November 2017, Garner revealed to News.com.au that she would have not chosen to be single or to be in her position, but it was something that they were working on.
In June 2018, she shared a sweet tribute for Affleck on Father’s Day. According to the “Miracles from Heaven” star, their children are lucky to have Affleck as their dad.
A month after, she told CBS that she could cry talking about how her marriage with Affleck ended. She admitted that the “scrutiny in your private life puts a pressure to make something happen.” She added that the public wasn’t what’s hard but going through all the pressure from the public.
Even though their divorce was finalized in 2018, Garner and Affleck remain amicable as they co-parent their children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel. Sometimes they attend Sunday services at church together.
