What Is Ralphie May’s Cause Of Death? Comedian Dies At 45
Comedian Ralphie May died, TMZ reported Friday. He was 45 years old.
He garnered fame in 2003 after he finished in second place on “Last Comic Standing.” Since then, May continued to tour the world with his comedy act. He also had televised comedy specials on Netflix and Comedy Central.
He and then-wife Lahna Turner filed for divorce in 2015. He was reportedly “devastated” by the split, TMZ wrote. The couple’s relationship turned “nasty” when they battled over custody of their two children.
Hours before his untimely death, May retweeted messages on his Twitter account.
One of the last tweets he penned was from Wednesday. “Well, I won Casino Comedian of the Year, y'all. Thanks @HarrahsVegas #NoApologies,” he wrote, sharing a picture of his trophy.
The day before that, he told a fan he was “sick [with] pneumonia.”
“Pneumonia and my fever made Friday nights show that I've ever had to do. Staying hydrateduuuuu,” he wrote Sept. 30.
May’s estranged wife accused him of being suicidal, sexually abusive and “so drug-adleled” that he couldn’t take care of their children alone, TMZ wrote in February, citing court documents.
When they briefly reconciled in 2015, May allegedly became violent in the bedroom. Turner claimed they were having sex, but when she asked him to stop he said, “You need to feel pain, b----!”
She further alleged that May insulted her, threatened to kill himself and abused drugs in front of their children.
Turner asked the courts for a restraining order. A judge banded May from harassing his ex.
“Due to legal constraints,” May’s reps did not comment on the TMZ story from February.
Turner did not immediately respond to her ex’s death.
Comedian Jim Breuer took to Twitter to mourn the death of his friend. “Ralphie May RIP funny man. We shared good talks & good laughs . See you on the other side kid,” he wrote.
