“The Bold Type” fans are in shock after last night’s Season 3 finale. The final moments showed the Scarlet offices being frantically packed up. So when do audiences find out what’s happening next?

Luckily, fans know it’s not the end. Freeform renewed “The Bold Type” for Season 4 at Upfronts, surprising actresses Aisha Dee, Katie Stevens and Meghann Fahy with the news on stage last month.

However, that was only a few weeks ago, meaning they haven’t started filming yet. “The Bold Type” social media accounts have confirmed that the series, which follows young women working at a Cosmopolitan-like magazine, will not return until 2020.

This isn’t too surprising for longtime fans. While Freeform shows like “Good Trouble” air multiple seasons within a year, “The Bold Type” has always been a one season per year situation. The first two seasons both premiered in June, but Season 3 came in a little earlier on April 9. It’s safe to expect “The Bold Type” sometime next spring.

That means fans have months to wonder what will happen. Is Jane (Stevens) really over Ryan’s (Dan Jeannotte) kiss with another woman or are there some trust issues? Will Richard (Sam Page) move to San Francisco after Sutton (Fahy) said he should? How will Kat (Dee) handle Adena’s (Nikohl Boosheri) new position at Scarlet? Of course, that’s assuming there still is a Scarlet. The final scenes make viewers wonder if Scarlet is shutting down for good.

Don’t expect any spoilers from the cast for a while. It sounds like they’re in the dark, according to Jacqueline actress Melora Hardin.

“I can’t give you spoilers about Season 4 because I don’t really know, to be honest... It looks like maybe Jacqueline’s out, but that would be very strange, wouldn’t it?” she told TV Guide. “I think it is quite a shake-up for sure, and it’s going to be interesting to see how that all plays out.”

There will be at least one behind-the-scenes change in Season 4. Wendy Straker Hauser will replace Amanda Lasher as showrunner. Lasher was in charge for two seasons, replacing Sarah Watson. Straker Hauser has been with the show as a writer since Season 1.
