“Avengers: Endgame” is set to be the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, and that means some major deaths are likely. Fans seem to be in agreement that the original six Avengers are most in danger, but some seem safer than others. Check out our (spoiler-free) predictions for the fates of the original Avengers:

Captain America: Most Likely To Die

Fans have been preparing for Captain America/Steve Roger’s (Chris Evans) death for years now. The World War II vet died during the “Civil War” arc in the comics, but he survived the same storyline in the movies. However, as long as he and Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) make amends, it seems like Cap has tied up all his loose ends. He’d definitely be first in line to sacrifice himself if that’s what it takes to bring back the lost Avengers.

Evans is also to blame for the highest ranking on every most likely to die list. First, a New York Times article said “Avengers: Endgame” was his last movie as Cap, and then, Evans wrote an emotional goodbye note after wrapping filming. While the actor backtracked both times, it certainly feels like Evans is planning to hang up the shield soon.

Iron Man: Very Likely To Die

Robert Downey Jr. has been with the franchise since 2008, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the actor felt it was the right time to leave. However, it’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home” that has fans really concerned about Iron Man’s fate. He was a big part of 2017’s “Homecoming,” but trailers for the Spidey sequel don’t show Tony anywhere. Instead, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) seems to be taking orders from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Did Tony pass the baton or did he not survive “Avengers: Endgame”?

Hulk: 50/50

Life at Marvel Studios would probably be easier for everyone if they didn’t have to worry about actor Mark Ruffalo spoiling everything, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to kill off his characters. There is also a lot of unexplored territory with Bruce Banner and Hulk, and that makes it seem like they might survive. On the other hand, Universal’s distribution rights to the film seem to be preventing a headlining franchise and force Hulk to be just a supporting character in Marvel Studios’ films. How far can his story really go without another solo film?

Thor: 50/50

Again, this character could be done after “Avengers: Endgame” — but not if Marvel Studios sees a future for him. Actor Chris Hemsworth’s contract is up, but he told USA Today that he has thought about returning for a fourth “Thor” movie. “Thor: Ragnarok” completely changed and reinvigorated the character’s franchise, and that might be enough to save him.

Black Widow: Unlikely To Die

At the very least, fans know “Avengers: Endgame” won’t be the last time they’ll see Scarlett Johansson suit up as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff. The assassin will get her own solo movie, set to film this summer, but it will likely take place in the past. The solo film doesn’t guarantee her survival, but then again, Marvel doesn’t do standalone movies. They might want to keep her alive for a possible “Black Widow” franchise.

Hawkeye: Very Unlikely To Die

The fact that Hawkeye/Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) is getting a TV show seems like a big spoiler. The Disney+ limited series will reportedly show him passing the bow to Kate Bishop, who also takes the title of Hawkeye in the comics.
