Why Did FXX Cancel ‘Man Seeking Woman’ After Three Seasons?
FXX just canceled “Man Seeking Woman” after three seasons.
According to TV Line, Josh Greenberg’s romantic comedy aired its final episode on March 8. At the time, the network had still not made a decision about the show’s fate. But nearly a month later, they have decided to axe the series starring Jay Baruchel and Katie Findlay.
The publication revealed that FXX did not immediately make a decision on renewing “Man Seeking Woman” for a fourth season because they needed time to analyze the show’s delayed viewing data. In the end, despite the show’s positive reviews, its ratings weren’t enough to justify a Season 4 renewal. Overall, “Man Seeking Woman” only averaged less than 400,000 viewers and less than 300,000 were adults aged 18 to 49, according to Deadline.

“Man Seeking Woman” was created by Simon Rich, and its story was based on his book of short stories, titled “The Last Girlfriend on Earth.” Other cast members included Eric Andre and Britt Lower. Rich also served as executive producer for the show, and Jonathan Krisel, Andrew Singer and Lorne Michaels worked closely with him.
The series followed the life of Josh (Baruchel), a 20-something man in search of love. After several failed trials at finding the woman of his dreams, Josh ends up with his girlfriend, Lucy (Findlay). However, Josh soon realized that dating a woman is not an easy thing to do because there are daily struggles they both needed to surpass. Other than planning their anniversaries, Josh also had to learn how to be friends with Lucy’s group. He also struggled with learning how to live their lives as partners and not as individuals.
