Why Isn’t ‘9-1-1’ On Tonight? Fox Delays Season 2, Episode 9

Businesses are observing Veterans Day today with a day off, and so are the first responders of Fox’s “9-1-1.” There isn’t a new episode of the drama airing tonight, but fans can still see all the action and their favorite characters in a broadcasting of a repeat episode.

The Season 2 premiere, titled “Under Pressure,” will be shown during the show’s usual time slot of 9 p.m. EST. For those who missed it the first time around, this is a good way to watch how the new season kicked off, as well as see how the new characters — fireman Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and Buck’s (Oliver Stark) sister, Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) — were introduced.

“On one of the hottest days of the year, the first responders are pressured as harrowing incidents keep happening, including a road rage accident involving a van full of tourists, an emergency at an auto-repair shop and a vet with a live grenade embedded in his leg,” the Season 2, episode 1 synopsis revealed. “Meanwhile, Buck is visited by his sister. Also, Athena [Angela Bassett] questions her relationship with Bobby [Peter Krause]. Then, at the fire station, new hire Eddie jeopardizes Buck's chances of being chosen for a fireman calendar.”

“9-1-1” will return with new episodes when Fox airs Season 2, episode 9, titled “Hen Begins,” on Nov. 19. Fans will see how Hen (Aisha Hinds) became the firefighter that she is in the present. She’ll look back on the times she first met Chimney (Kenneth Choi) and Athena, both of whom have shaped who she is.

Per the promo video, the episode will also focus on the firefighters, EMTs and police officers saving lives during an intense rainstorm. When Maddie answers a 9-1-1 call, a woman tells her that a “whole mountain just came down into our house.” One minute, there are glass windows lining a side of the caller’s room, and the next, they’re being blown out by mud crashing into the house.

The trailer shows the first responders helping a mother buried in mud and a man who needs to be dragged out of a car. All of the action of “9-1-1” Season 2, episode 9 can be seen on Fox on Nov. 19 at 9 p.m. EST.
