With the Houston Astros leading 3-2 against the Washington Nationals in the World Series, at least one more game needs to be played, which is why Fox won’t be airing a new episode of “The Resident” tonight.

Game 6 of the World Series will air live on Fox around 8 p.m. EDT, and the results will determine whether or not a Game 7 will need to be played tomorrow night to decide the winner of the tournament.

Season 3, episode 5 of “The Resident,” titled “Choice Words,” was delayed last week because of Game 1, and now it’s being delayed by Game 6, but the show will for sure come back next week on Tuesday, Nov. 5 because the World Series will be over by then.

In the episode, according to the synopsis, “After a plane crashes in Atlanta, Devon (Manish Dayal) is overcome by guilt at the thought that he could have prevented the tragedy. Bell (Bruce Greenwood), who was a passenger on the plane, makes it his personal mission to save the life of the man seated next to him.

“Meanwhile, Adaku (guest star Erinn Westbrook) returns to ask Mina (Shaunette Renée Wilson) a big favor, the Raptor (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) struggles with telling his birth parents about meeting his biological father and Conrad (Matt Czuchry) and Nic (Emily VanCamp) consider risking it all to investigate a drug that might be linked to Jessie’s death.”

The series also stars Jane Leeves (Dr. Kitt Voss) and Morris Chestnut (Dr. Barrett Cain).

Catch a new episode of “The Resident” when it returns with Season 3, episode 5 on Fox on 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
