Why Isn’t ‘This Is Us’ On Tonight? NBC Delays Season 3, Episode 7

“This Is Us” isn’t heading back to Vietnam quite yet. The NBC drama is not airing a new episode on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Fans will have to wait to see what happens when Kevin tries to dig into his father’s past.

Instead, there will be an NBC News special in its place. “The Vote: America’s Future” will air from 8 p.m. EDT until 11 p.m. EDT. The three-hour segment will cover the midterm elections.

The voting special takes the place of NBC’s entire primetime lineup. That means “The Voice” and “New Amsterdam” are also benched for the week. The hiatus won’t be too long, though. All the normal programming will return on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

When “This Is Us” returns with Season 3, episode 7, it’ll take viewers back to Vietnam in both the past and present. “Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Zoe (Melanie Liburd) land in Vietnam,” the synopsis teases. The actor invited his new gal pal to come with him on this journey in last week’s episode. Despite Zoe’s tendency to keep relationships cool and casual, she and Kevin seem to be taking steps towards getting serious.

Kevin is focusing on family first, thogugh. To learn more about Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) time in the Vietnam War, he is heading to the Asian country to try to track down the woman wearing the necklace that his dad gave him. He wants to know her connection to his father.

It isn’t clear if Kevin will get answers, but viewers will get some insight. “Jack’s war story continues to be revealed,” the summary teases. Does that mean viewers will also see more of Nicky (Michael Angarano), Jack’s little brother? They’ll have to tune in to find out.

That isn’t the only Jack storyline viewers will see. “In the past, Jack and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) take a road trip to Los Angeles,” the synopsis notes. Rebecca asked Jack to go across the country with her, and it seems he’ll follow through, despite only knowing her for a week.

The promo video for episode 7 makes it clear that Jack and Rebecca fall in love on this trip, but they’ll also learn a lot about each other. The commercial shows Rebecca confronting Jack about his nightmares.
