Why Kandi Burruss Wants Eva Marcille To Return To ‘RHOA,’ Addresses NeNe Leakes' Future
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 13 may be in production, but it doesn’t mean the same cast members will appear in the new season. Kandi Burruss recently opened up about Eva Marcille’s exit and rumors suggesting NeNe Leakes has quit the Bravo reality series.
Following the explosive “RHOA” Season 12 reunion, Eva revealed that she would not be returning to the franchise, and NeNe admitted that her rocky relationships with the cast made her question whether she wanted to film another season.
After filming some content for Season 13, cast member Kandi Burruss told ET that she hopes Eva will reconsider her decision to leave the show.
“I was talking to her about that yesterday. I was saying people still want her to be amongst the group, even if she’s decided not to be a regular part of the show. So, obviously, that’s always up to her. As of now, she’s like, ‘No.’ But I hope she changes her mind, because, at the end of the day, we do have a genuine relationship; that wasn’t for camera or anything,” Kandi explained.
“She invited us over to her house because she cooked, and then she invited [cast members] Kenya [Moore] and Cynthia [Bailey]. And the cool thing is -- what people are not going to get to see is -- that her and Kenya are, like, really cool, super tight now.”
In June, Eva told E! News that “RHOA” Season 12 would be her last. “I appreciate the bond of friendship that I have made with several of my castmates, and the strong personal relationships I have cultivated with numerous executives and producers from Bravo and Truly Original. I am thankful for the opportunity I was provided,” she said in a statement at the time.
“However, after speaking with my family and representatives, I believe what I am hoping to accomplish for the culture and community will be better served by focusing on other opportunities. I look forward to serving my community on the 'Rickey Smiley' morning show and finding ways to be a voice during this transformational time in our country for people of color.”
While Eva continues to stand firm on her decision to leave the show, Kandi told ET that she was unsure about whether NeNe has signed on for the new season. “I don’t know what NeNe’s doing. I just started taping, so I’m not sure who’s in and who’s out,” she confessed.
Kandi revealed that Bravo does not inform the women about who will be appearing on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast at the beginning of a new season.
“They don’t let us know, normally. Typically the way it works is, in the beginning of taping, we just see more [of] my own personal life and story, and eventually, you start trickling in scenes with other people,” she explained.
“Until we have something where everybody is supposed to be there, I’m not sure who everybody is.”
Bravo has not announced an official release date for “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 13.
