Why Logan Lerman Is Not Keen On Playing Poseidon In New 'Percy Jackson' Series
Logan Lerman does not see himself playing the role of Poseidon in the upcoming Disney+ series "Percy Jackson."
The latest adaptation is yet to cast an actor for the role of Poseidon, the ancient Greek god of water, earthquakes and horses. While no one has approached him for the role, Lerman said he is also not too keen on playing the Greek god for an obvious reason.
"I get people asking me all the time if I'm gonna play Poseidon, and I'm like, am I old enough to play Poseidon? I don't think I'm old enough for that one! I wouldn't cast me in that role if I was part of the creative team. I don't know, these are all hypotheticals, so I have no idea," the 30-year-old actor told Esquire in a new interview.
Lerman, who will turn 31 on Jan. 19, played demigod Percy Jackson in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" (2010) and its sequel "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" (2013).
The upcoming Disney+ series, "Percy Jackson and the Olympians," will follow a 12-year-old Percy, played by Walker Scobell. The series also features Lin-Manuel Miranda, Megan Mullally, Jason Mantzoukas and Glynn Turman. It is scheduled to release later this year.
"Percy who's just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt," according to the series' description, reported E! News. "Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus."
Lerman also revealed how he chooses his projects.
"There's the weighing of options. There's not always going to be the perfect thing...My goal, always, is to find a director that I love and hopefully support their vision," the actor told Esquire. "And on top of that, there's the character. Finding a character that feels new to me, that feels like a world that I want to explore, or a person that's a part of a world that I want to explore, or a history that I'm interested in."
