Why Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Ignored Prince Charles And Ditched The Royal Family
After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed their plans to step back from their royal duties, Queen Elizabeth released a statement supporting the couple’s decision.
However, it appears Prince Harry and Prince William’s strained relationship with Prince Charles may be one of the reasons the Sussexes chose to distance themselves from their royal family.
In an article published by The Spectator, royal expert Camilla Tominey suggested Harry and William don’t have a close relationship with Prince Charles. In her story, the editor claimed the brothers “do not really listen” to their father.
“Many have questioned why, as William and Harry’s father and only living parent, Charles has not been able to broker peace between his once inseparable sons,” Tominey revealed.
“The truth is the royal brothers do not really listen to the ‘Papa’ they have long seemed to regard with a degree of affectionate ridicule.”
The commentator claimed Prince Charles often felt his sons valued their relationship with Princess Diana more than a bond with their father.
“Charles has always been desperate for the approval of his two self-confessed ‘mummy’s boys’ and so historically has had to bring in outsiders to read the riot act, such as their former joint private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton,” she wrote
Tominey claimed Charles’ feelings of inadequacy only caused further damage to his relationship with Prince Harry.
“But his [Harry’s] own relationship with their father suffered a severe blow when, in agreement with the Queen, Charles refused to let the Sussexes set up their own ‘court’ at Windsor after they split their household from the Cambridges’ at Kensington Palace last spring,” she revealed.
Although many suspect Meghan and Prince Harry have made their decision due to their concerns about baby Archie, Tominey seems to suspect there may be other factors affecting the couple’s decision.
