Why Meghan Markle’s Baby Can’t Compete With Prince William, Kate Middleton’s Kids
Meghan Markle has been dominating the royal spotlight since she married Prince Harry in May 2018. As the pregnant Duchess prepares to give birth to their first child, insiders claim the media attention the 37-year-old and the royal baby have been receiving won’t be able to compete against Prince William and Kate Middleton’s kids.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge share three children together, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. George is currently third in line to the throne, while Charlotte and Louis are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Once the children begin to grow up, royal insiders believe the public will turn their attention to the heirs with the better chance of sitting on the throne. As a result, Meghan and Prince Harry will no longer be the center of attention.
“It is impossible to compare to the Duchess of Cambridge because she is married to the future King,” a source told the Mail on Sunday.
“While the focus is very much on Harry and Meghan at the moment, this is not going to last – particularly as the Cambridge children grow up and become the core Royal Family.”
Prince Harry is the sixth in line for the throne, but if Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have children, he will be pushed further down the line of succession. As the Duke of Sussex’s chances of sitting on the throne become more unlikely the focus will be shifted to his niece and nephews.
Harry and Meghan recently moved into their new home at Windsor after living next to William and Kate at Kensington Palace.
Meghan and Prince Harry are expected to welcome their first child together this spring.
