Why Prince Harry Failed To Rekindle Chelsy Davy Relationship Before Meghan Markle
Before marrying Meghan Markle in 2018 and expanding the royal family, Prince Harry was in a relationship with Chelsy Davy. The Prince of Wales and the socialite dated on and off for seven years before ending things for good in 2011.
Years after their break up, the two reportedly met up one last time but failed to successfully rekindle their romance.
In the book “Harry: Life, Loss And Love,” royal biographer Katie Nicholl revealed Chelsy reached out to Harry in 2015 and suggested they spend time together after learning learned they were both in Africa.
“While in Africa he had been back in touch with Chelsy, and they had agreed to a secret rendezvous in Cape Town,” Nicholl wrote.
At the time of their reunion, Chelsy had ended her relationship with jeweler Charles Goode, while Prince Harry spent his summer focusing on rhino conservation work.
“It was clear they still had deep feelings for one another and deep down they both hoped that there might be a chance of a reconciliation,” the author wrote.
Realizing they were single at the same time, Harry and Chelsy took the opportunity to have “one last hurrah” before completely giving up on the possibility of a future together.
“They were both single at the time and figured, why not? They got to spend some time together without anyone knowing.”
Despite their desire to make their romance last, issues from the past wouldn’t allow Harry and Chelsy to move forward with their relationship.
“We were all hoping it would work out, and they were too. They really are kindred spirits, but it was a case of same old story. Harry was still a prince, and it wasn’t the life Chels wanted,” Nicholl explained.
Harry eventually met Meghan and married the “Suits” actress in a lavished royal wedding, which Chelsy attended.
