Prince Harry has been honoring Princess Diana’s legacy in a number of different ways since her death, and it seems that there will be no stopping him.

During an interview with People three years ago, the Duke of Sussex said that all he wants to do in life is to make his mom proud. And that’s exactly what he has been doing.

“When she died, there was a gaping hole, not just for us but also for a huge amount of people across the world. If I can try and fill a very small part of that, then job done… I will have to, in a good way, spend the rest of my life trying to fill that void as much as possible,” he said.

Sarah Grossbart, a journalist for E! News, said that Prince Harry’s goal of making Princess Diana proud even after her death is the reason why he and his family will never stop honoring his mom’s legacy. However, things haven’t always been easy for the new dad.

Two years ago, Prince Harry appeared on “Bryony Gordon’s Mad World” podcast where he talked about the struggles he faced after his mom died. Princess Diana passed away following a fatal car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997, when Prince Harry was just 12 years old.

“My way of dealing with it is sticking my head in the sand and refusing to ever think about my mom because why would that help. It’s only going to make you said… It’s never going to bring her back,” he said.

Prince Harry’s older brother, Prince William, was the one that encouraged him to deal with his loss, otherwise, he would have gone to a complete breakdown. Prince Harry shortly realized that he needed to change his ways.

In July, Markle’s husband once again talked about his mom’s death and said that when Princess Diana passed away, he didn’t want to be in the position that he was in.
