Why Prince Harry Wore A Household Cavalry Uniform To His Royal Wedding
Prince Harry looked dapper in a Household Cavalry uniform on his wedding day last year, and the Duke of Sussex has revealed why exactly did he choose the outfit.
In a museum exhibit titled “A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” audio recordings of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry discussing their special day were released. In one of the clips, Prince Harry revealed that he even asked Queen Elizabeth’s permission to wear a particular uniform.
“I chose the frock coat as a uniform, with permission from my grandmother, because I think it’s one of the smartest Household Cavalry uniforms. It’s one of my favorites, and I was very fortunate to be able to wear that one day,” he said.
Prince Harry arrived at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018, way ahead of Markle. He wore an all-black ensemble to his special day and paired it with his black, red, and yellow cap and white gloves. Markle, on the other hand, wore a wedding dress designed by Clair Waight Keller.
The Duchess of Sussex also talked about her special day in the audio recording. She said that a lot of detail went into the planning of their wedding day.
“We knew how large the scale of the event would be, so in making choices that were really personal and meaningful, it could make the whole experience feel intimate,” she said.
But one year after the royal couple’s wedding, things haven’t been easy for both Markle and Prince Harry. They are continuously plagued with negative criticisms online. Markle has also been given a slew of nicknames that seem to target her personality such as “Me-Gain,” “Difficult Duchess,” “degree wife,” and “Hurricane Meghan.”
And the couple’s latest controversy had to with rumors that they are at odds with Prince William and Kate Middleton. They also split their charities and will no longer be part of the Royal Foundation.
