Why Prince Harry’s Relationship With Cressida Bonas Was Better Than Meghan Markle Marriage

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a whirlwind romance, and appear to have the perfect life following the arrival of baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. However, some believe the Duke of Sussex may have been happier if he married his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.

Harry and Cressida, who dated for two years before going their separate ways, reportedly had a deep connection during their romance.

In the ITV documentary, “Prince Harry at 30,” Chris Hutchins revealed Cressida didn’t care about the Duke’s ties to the royal family. “She is the most suitable person he has ever had in his life,” the royal biographer claimed.

“Cressida’s love for Harry came not from the fact he was the Queen’s grandson. She wasn’t interested in that – she comes from a very grand ancestry herself,” he added.

Unfortunately, Cressida’s feelings for Harry weren’t enough to convince her to continue their relationship. “The fly in the ointment was he would have married her for sure by now, but she had no wishes to be a princess,” Hutchins noted.

After Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie of York introduced the two in 2012, they fell head-over-heels for one another. However, Cressida reportedly ended the relationship in 2014 after watching coverage of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s first royal tour.

In the book, “Harry: Life, Loss, and Love,” Katie Nicholl revealed Harry was left heartbroken when Cressida realized she couldn’t be happy if she married into the royal family.

“Cressida had been ‘completely spooked’ while watching TV coverage of William, Kate and George touring New Zealand and Australia that spring. There was no way she wanted that sort of attention, and she told Harry so,” the royal biographer wrote.

Although Prince Harry may have lost his chance to marry Cressida, he eventually found a happy ending with Meghan, who was comfortable in front of the camera. Royal filmmaker Nick Bulleten previously told Fox News Meghan was eager to return to her royal duties, and would most likely have a “very short maternity leave.”

“She’s aware of the media attention she possesses and she’s not afraid to use it… She knew what she was marrying into – this is not a girl who was unaware of the power of the press,” he revealed.

Meghan’s return to her royal duties has not be confirmed, but she is expected to begin making public appearances in the fall.
