Why Was Bruce Jenner Not Invited To Kim Kardashian Proposal? Step-Father Was Absent When Kanye West Popped The Question
When the Kardashian family flew to San Francisco to be with Kim Kardashian when Kanye West proposed to her on her birthday Monday night, one person was noticeably absent — Bruce Jenner. The 63-year-old Olympic gold medalist split from Kim's mother Kris Jenner earlier this month.
The pair announced their separation following 22 years of marriage. “We are living separately and we are much happier this way,” they told E! News. “But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority.”
TMZ reports, however, that Jenner was not invited when West asked Kardashian to marry him. He did not find out about the elaborate proposal until later, when his stepdaughter already said yes. She reportedly called him right afterward. While it is unclear why the athletic legend was not invited, sources tell the site that he was never happy with how quickly Kardashian moved on from ex-husband Kris Humphries. The couple was married for only 72 days before filing for divorce.
West had a 50-piece orchestra play Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful” before playing his own hit song “Knock Me Down,” which includes the lyrics, “I never thought I’d be in love like this/When I look at you, my mind goes on a trip.”
After the performance, the words, “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEEE!!!! [sic]” appeared on the scoreboard screen, and after Kardashian accepted, there were fireworks and her family came out of the dugouts to celebrate the moment with her.
The couple have been dating since last year, though they have known each other for about a decade and have a 5-month-old daughter, North.
