Will CBS’ New ‘Magnum P.I.’ Have A Season 2? Renewal, Cancellation Details
CBS’ “Magnum P.I.” reboot wraps up its first batch of episodes with its Season 1 finale tonight, but fans have no reason to worry about the future of the new series.
Back in January, the network decided to renew the Jay Hernandez-led show, along with two other freshman programs — “The Neighborhood” and “FBI.”
“Each of these distinctive shows has made their mark in a variety of ways,” Kelly Kahl, President of CBS Entertainment, said, according to Deadline. “Our goals this season were to introduce new series that audiences are passionate about, add more strength to a winning schedule and create more inclusive programming.”
Senior EVP of Programming, Thom Sherman, added: “We’re thrilled by the creative direction and performance of these three shows as they continue to grow in popularity and resonate with the Network’s viewers.”
Since the show isn’t canceled and will be back with a Season 2, what should fans expect from the next set of episodes? Well, there just might be a full crossover episode with “Hawaii Five-0” and “MacGyver.”
“We talk about it a lot in the room, how to do it,” Peter M. Lenkov, co-creator of all three CBS shows, said last month at PaleyFest in Los Angeles, Deadline reported. “I think there’s a way to do it, it’s just logistics.”
Lenkov said they’d “love to make that work out,” so fans will just have to wait to see if the teams are able to coordinate the three-way crossover production.
The Season 1 finale of “Magnum P.I.” airs tonight on CBS at 9 p.m. EDT.
