Will Dove Cameron Play Sabrina In ‘Riverdale’? Theory Hints At Fred’s Killer
“Riverdale” Season 2 won’t air until October, but there are already several rumors surrounding the hit CW series.
Earlier this year, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that Sabrina the Teenage Witch will be introduced in “Riverdale” Season 2. Just recently, actress Dove Cameron is being linked to the role. On Friday, she finally had the chance to confirm or deny the speculations while speaking with Shine on Media. However, the “Descendants 2” actress just left fans in the dark.

“I love ‘Riverdale.’ I know the cast and they were shooting that actually as we were shooting ‘Descendants 2.’ Yeah, I’d definitely be open to it. I love the character Sabrina, obviously. I was a huge fan of the original ‘Archie’ comics. It was the only thing I read when I was little. So, yeah, I’d be open to it,” she said.
In April, a leaked clip of Lorelai Linklater auditioning for the role of Toni Topaz was released online. Earlier this month, it was officially announced that Linklater will indeed play the new character. According to Screen Rant, Toni is a student at Southside High, Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) new school. Since she and Jughead could be classmates, Toni could shake things up for Jughead and Betty (Lili Reinhart).
Meanwhile, one fan theory recently hinted on the possibility of Hermione (Marisol Nichols) being the person behind Fred’s (Luke Perry) shooting. While at the 2017 San Deigo Comic-Con, Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that the identity of Fred’s shooter will be revealed in the premiere episode. “By the end of the first episode, we will know who shot Fred,” he said.
Tumblr user quirkyanya (via Teen Vogue) claimed that Hermione hired someone to kill Fred since she knows that her husband, Hiram (Mark Consuelos), will be back. Initially, Fred’s shooting will be blamed on the Southside Serpents, particularly FP (Skeet Ulrich). After all, Fred and FP are not necessarily the best of friends. If this theory will be proven to be true, this could risk Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica’s (Camila Mendes) relationship.
“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EST.
