Winter Premiere Dates 2015: 13 TV Shows To Watch On Sunday, Jan. 4

If you’ve been dying for good television to return, this is what you’ve been waiting for -- 13 programs are set to premiere on Sunday night. Some are returning after a brief hiatus, while others will debut for the first time. Either way it seems as if there is something for everyone on Jan. 4.

“Galavant” is a musical comedy that will debut on ABC at 8 p.m. EST with two half-hour episodes. A medieval knight called Galavant (Joshua Sasse) wants to win the love of his life (Mallory Jansen) back. However, she isn’t exactly a damsel. It turns out she prefers fame and fortune to kind-hearted knights. With music from Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Little Shop Of Horrors”) and lyrics from Glenn Slater ("Tangled"), the show seems set to provide laughs and unforgettable songs.

For those in the mood for drama, “Downton Abbey” Season 5 will premiere on PBS at 9 p.m. EST. The British import will explore Edith’s secret baby and Mary’s adventurous love life this season. Of course, there will be some bigger secrets in the season as well. Everyone still wants to know if Bates killed Mr. Green.

Reality fans can also catch a returning favorite tonight. “Celebrity Apprentice” Season 14 will premiere on NBC at 9 p.m. EST. Donald Trump’s reality show will feature 16 celebrities competing for $250,000. The funds will go to the charity of their choice. Contestants include “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Brandi Glanville, football player Terrell Owens and actress Vivica A. Fox. For those who love reality that feels a little more real, “Life Itself” premieres on CNN at 9 p.m. EST. The documentary follows film critic Roger Ebert before his death in 2013. When filmmaker Steve James set out to make a biography, he didn’t realize Ebert would be dead within a few months. The documentary has received rave reviews from critics.
