Spokko Mobile Games Studio, the newest member of CD Projekt Red family, announces a new mobile game titled “The Witcher: Monster Slayer.” The game is a free-to-play location-based action RPG. It is available for both Android and iOS mobile devices and is set in the vast universe of “The Witcher.”
The official announcement of “The Witcher: Monster Slayer” offers us some details on what to expect from the upcoming free-to-play augmented reality mobile game. “The Witcher: Monster Slayer” is set long before the time of the popular Witcher Geralt of Rivia. It enables players to use augmented reality to roam around different areas to find enemies and take them down in battle. The game incorporates RPG elements, battling and crafting.
“The Witcher: Monster Slayer” players explore the world studying, tracking and fighting beasts and monsters using time of day, as well as real-life weather conditions to have the upper hand in the game. “Preparation is key in order to defeat tougher enemies, as players will need to brew powerful potions and oils, craft bombs and monster bait, and upgrade their character before putting these beasts to the sword and signs in first-person AR combat,” CDPR explains.
In addition to fighting monsters, “The Witcher: Monster Slayer” also features rich, story-driven missions and quests inspired by other games from the popular series. It promises to take players on an adventure that allows them to experience what it means to be a monster slayer.
“The Witcher: Monster Slayer” players would get trophies as proof of their conquest similar to that of Geralt in “The Witcher.” CD Projekt Red has not yet revealed the release date of the upcoming free-to-play augmented reality game. Interestingly, the gaming studio said that it would be revealed in the later part of the year.
Meanwhile, you can check out the announcement trailer of “The Witcher: Monster Slayer” below. CD Projekt Red is the same team behind the hit game “The Witcher 3,” as well as the upcoming title “Cyberpunk 2077” where Keanu Reeves is one of the game’s NPCs.
