  • Three surgeries were carried out on her within a few hours

  • The hospital staff locked up the building and fled soon after the death

A 28-year-old woman died in a private hospital near New Delhi as two doctors performed three back-to-back surgeries on her. The police are verifying the doctors' certifcates to see if they were fake as the family of the deceased alleged.

The doctors locked up the hospital and fled when a large crowed turned up in protest. The incident happened in Greater Noida near New Delhi on Monday, reported Times Now News.

According to the woman's husband, she consulted a doctor at Raj Nursing Home a few days ago. The doctor, Rajendra Singh, diagnosed an abdominal lump and suggested surgery.

As advised, the patient was taken to the hospital for surgery around 2 pm Monday. However, she began bleeding heavily. Seeing her condition worsening, Singh summoned another doctor, Rajiv Chaudhary. He suggested another surgery, which was conducted around 4 pm.

"I wanted to take my wife to a better facility, but Singh and Chaudhary claimed they would ensure she’s fine at any cost," her husband told The Times Of India.

The duo then carried out a third operation. However, the woman's condition continued to worsen. Her relatives then decided to take her to another hospital. However, doctors declared her dead by Tuesday afternoon.

The victim's family immediately alerted the police, who sent the body for an autopsy. The officers said the family alleged that the doctors who conducted the surgery were fake and did not possess a medical degree.

The issue snowballed into a protest, and within hours, over 600 people had gathered in front of the hospital. By then, the doctors and other employees of the Raj Nursing Home had fled the hospital after locking it up. It took the police officials almost four hours to pacify the crowd.

Police have charged both the accused with culpable homicide, not amounting to murder. An investigation is on in this regard, and police are also verifying their certificates and degrees.

A similar case was reported recently in Pakistan last month after a man, claiming to be a doctor, attempted to rape a woman who came for treatment. The police said the woman had gone to the hospital, seeking treatment for severe abdominal pain. She was taken inside the operation room where he drugged her. However, the rape attempt was foiled as the woman woke up from her drug-induced sleep and began to cry for help.
