  • Ed Sheeran released his new single, "Bad Habits," last Friday
  • Sheeran welcomed his daughter Lyra in 2020
  • The singer married Cherry Seaborn in 2019

Ed Sheeran's fans should not be surprised if the singer reveals he is expecting another baby anytime in the future. The 30-year-old singer recently opened up about expanding his family.

Sheeran already has a daughter, Lyra Antarctica, with his wife, Cherry Seaborn. The baby girl will turn one in August this year.

Speaking on Kannon's podcast, "Open House Party," Monday, the singer admitted that he "would obviously be super grateful to be able to have any more kids." "But I think girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say this," he added.

However, the singer noted that if "nothing else happens," he would still be happy with just one child.

"I feel like we were so lucky to be able to have one that I think I would obviously love more," he noted. "But I think we're so lucky to just have one. So if nothing else happens, I'm so happy, basically."

While talking about his daughter, the Grammy winner singer revealed Lyra was just "making attempts to crawl" and "babbling." Sheeran also reflected on parenthood and the "club" every parent automatically becomes a member of.

"It's weird you say club because I think that whenever you become a parent you enter into this club that all the other parents are in and everyone understands each other," he explained.

"My mom will babysit Lyra for the evening and we'll go out for a drink with someone who is also a parent," he added. "Then we'll be like, 'Oh, well, we're going to go back now,' and there's no pushback on that. It's just like, 'Yeah, cool, totally understand.'"

The singer also opened up about his close friend Michael Gudinski's demise and how things changed for him in the last two years.

"I think I've had a few changes in my life over the past two years, not least turning 30 and becoming a dad," the singer said. "I had a friend who passed away in March, which was my first experience with real grief. And I feel like coming to terms with being an adult; I feel my 20s was this crazy whirlwind of partying and working and traveling the world and blah, blah, blah. Then everything stops and I'm, yeah, just figuring out who I am."

On the work front, Sheeran dropped his new single, "Bad Habits," last Friday. He expressed gratitude to fans for showering his latest single with love, adding he's "over the moon."

With the latest single, the singer broke his own record of the most number 1s on The UK's Biggest Chart.
