'WWE 2K19' Rumors: Developers Explain Sudden Shutdown Message Appearance
KEY POINTS
- "WWE 2K19" game servers will stay up despite an in-game message
- Gamers have two WWE-themed games to enjoy for now
- "WWE 2K19" still has users even with complaints about bugs
2K Games has a heavy load on its shoulders and the last thing they need right now is added backlash. As most know, there will be no "WWE 2K20" edition which the company said was meant to give developers time to improve the game. Further, it would also buy the new executive franchise producer (Patrick Gilmore) more time to make the necessary improvements.
Much of the fate of "WWE 2K20" was discussed in a previous post. It was also mentioned there how WWE gamers can continue enjoying wrestling action via "WWE 2K Battlegrounds." This is an arcade-style spin-off that is also being used to buy game developers some time. But for the ones consoling themselves with "WWE 2K19," a new issue cropped up recently. This had to do with the sudden in-game message that game servers were shutting down.
The recent development gave some WWE 2K fans a big sigh of relief. Though the current "WWE 2K19" carried bugs, it remained that there were still a lot of players in the game. But the curious thing about it all is that the glitch spurred a lot of reactions - both good and bad.
WWE Games, through its Twitter account, advised players to ignore the message which alleged that game servers were shutting down on May 31. It also assures that the servers will remain up for the foreseeable future. And while this was a sigh of relief to those who still play "WWE 2K19," it also takes a load off the "WWE 2K Battlegrounds" for folks who plan to keep themselves occupied with some cartoonish-style ring action, Game Rant reported.
There was no explanation given on why the in-game shutdown message appeared. It could have been a glitch, further raising the issue of bugs tied up to "WWE 2K19." Regardless, gamers are assured that they have two WWE-themed games to enjoy for now. Gaming has become an outlet for folks who are left holed up at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"WWE 2K Battleground" takes it a step further since it will be available in most gaming platforms. This means that the game will also be made available via the Nintendo Switch and Stadia aside from the usual versions tailored for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
