'WWE 2K21' Release Rumors: 2K Teases Possible Good News After 2020 Launch Cancellation
KEY POINTS
- "WWE 2K21" is not coming this year
- "WWE 2K" to issue announcement on Monday
- "WWE 2K" team needs to work on bugs of WWE 2K20
"WWE 2K20" did not exactly have a smashing debut last year as the game installment was poorly received. It had a lot of glitches that included poor graphics, leading many to believe that it was a poorly planned game. Though game developers tried to fix that with patches, it remains that the WWE 2K team needs to do a lot to win back the interest of fans.
"WWE 2K21" was originally supposed to be that game. But somehow, some feel that the next game edition may not entirely appease the fans. Based on an announcement made by WWE CFO Frank Riddick, it appears there is no new game launch happening this year. Instead, he mentioned that they will be sharing some details on the future of the "WWE 2K" franchise on Monday.
Of course, "WWE 2K" developers can always point to the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason why there will be no "WWE 2K21" game launch this year. But the thing here is that the current installment was far from something most would play due to the bugs. And because of this, it garnered poor ratings from all game consoles such as the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. The latest update also confirmed what Justin Leper, a YouTuber, revealed in a previous post. He was the first one to suggest that there will be no "WWE 2K21" this year.
The announcement to be made on Monday sends of mixed signals. Some think that there is a small possibility that "WWE 2K21" may still come out but likely on a delayed basis. For others, seeing now game installment this year maybe for the best for "WWE 2K." They need to work back and figure out what happened to "WWE 2K20" and try to improve that in its next scheduled game release.
Had it not for the coronavirus issue, a "WWE 2K" game release would have come out by October. But with most restricted to their homes and companies operating on skeletal workforces, addressing fixes and the proper programming of any "WWE 2K" game at this point is hard to imagine. The plans of the company for the said title should be discussed in detail this Monday so stay tuned.
