The reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is giving no quarter when it comes to her critics and has fired back on them in a recent interview.
Speaking with BT Sport, Flair made sure she had her voice heard this time around, specifically regarding her multiple title reigns.
“If I was a man, would it rub people the wrong way? No one looks at a man and goes, 'why does he want to be the world champion again when he's been on top all these years?' Is it because I'm a woman and have done it all and we have a smaller division? Charlotte is difficult? Because I stand up for what I believe in? That makes me difficult? If I was a man, I'd have big balls. I know how good I am. Man or woman, I am the best,” a fuming Flair explained.
The WWE Universe’s opinion on Flair has been very much negative after her multiple title reigns.
She has won both brands’ women’s titles six times each, for a grand total of 12 championship reigns on the main roster, something that fans saw as a massive problem due to the wealth of talent on board.
While riffing on Flair has become commonplace, especially on social media, she has only been on the main roster for a total of six years and is already racking up the titles.
The most errant of these supposed transgressions to the WWE Universe was in her seconds-long reign at the 2019 Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
At the time, Lynch was holding both brands’ belts and had just defended her Raw Women’s title against Lacey Evans before being slated to face Flair for the blue brand’s belt.
Unexpectedly, Flair went on to defeat Lynch and subsequently lost her recently won SmackDown title to a cash-in from Bayley, ending her reign at just four minutes and 52 seconds as recognized by WWE.
The top-tier pro wrestling promotion has been accused by fans multiple times of giving Flair short reigns in order to rack up her title count, with her having a total of 15 titles, including two reigns with the NXT Women’s Championship and the short-lived Divas title.
While it could very much be seen that way, it cannot be denied that Flair always gets the reactions, whether in her favor or not, when she walks out to the ring.
She is currently set for a Champion-versus-Champion showdown with Lynch at the upcoming Survivor Series event on Sunday, November 21.
