Zachary Levi Spotted Filming 'Shazam' Sequel In New Superhero Costume

Zachary Levi was spotted wearing his new Shazam suit on the set of the upcoming sequel movie titled "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" in Union City, Georgia, Thursday.

Levi was all smiles in the photos released by Just Jared. One picture even featured the 40-year-old singer-actor holding a gavel in front of what appeared to be a young guy.

The photos came a week since the DC Comics sequel started filming.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that Levi looked different in the photos as he was already wearing the new costume director David F. Sandberg teased previously.

The new Shazam suit now features more gold accents and a sleeker look, especially around the wrists and boots. The lightning bolt logo on Shazam's chest is also altered to match its overall look.

To celebrate the sequel's official kickoff, Levi shared a photo of Shazam-themed sneakers on his official Instagram account.

"Shazam: Fury of the Gods is officially underway!" Levi penned in the caption. "So grateful to @wbpictures @newlinecinema @dccomics et al for seeing the 16-year-old inside me and believing he could be their Big Red Cheese. Actual 16-year-old me would be shitting himself if he knew what his future was gonna hold."

Initially, "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" was scheduled to hit theaters on April 1, 2022, roughly two years after the release of its predecessor. However, it was pushed back to Nov. 4, 2022, due to restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, its release date was delayed further. The forthcoming sequel's current release date is June 2, 2023.

"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" would be the fourteenth DCEU movie, following the imminent "Black Adam" spinoff led by Dwayne Johnson.

Aside from Levi, the other personalities who are expected to appear in "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" include Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Marta Milans as Rosa Velasquez, Faith Herman as Darla Dudley and Asher Angel as Billy Batson.

"Charlie's Angels" star Lucy Liu and British actress Helen Mirren are also joining the returning cast members as the daughters of Atlas. The pair would also serve as the film's villains, namely Kalypso and Hespera, respectively.
