‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 2 Spoilers: Premiere Photos Show New Characters; Why Is Coulson’s Team Missing From The Pictures?

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 just released a bunch of new, spoiler-filled photos ahead of its Sept. 23 premiere. The pictures are from the Season 2 premiere, titled "Shadows,"and show off plenty of new characters such as Lucy Lawless as Isabelle Hartley and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter. However, some old fan favorite characters appear to be missing.

Shots of the new characters tease that Hartley will have some sort of confrontation with Melinda May in episode 1. The two tough gals might have some conflict, however it's important to note that May always looks angry and Hartley sounds like she'll be just as tough. The two might turn out to be good friends if their mission goes well.

The premiere photos tease that a few familiar guest stars will return as well. Patton Oswald is shown as another Koenig brother, and Adrian Pasdar will be reprising his role as Glenn Talbot. It looks like Talbot will be facing off with the Absorbing Man, a.k.a. Carl “Crusher” Creel. In the trailer for “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2, May was seen kicking Crusher in the face, so she might be helping Talbot out of a tough situation. That might help S.H.I.E.L.D. prove to the U.S. government that they aren’t a threat to the world anymore.

Guest stars are great, but fans are missing some familiar faces. Half of the main cast is absent from most of these pictures. Aside from the promo picture above, Ward, Fitz, Simmons and Triplett are all missing. Skye is only in two of the photos below. What is Coulson’s core team up to in the premiere that no one can see? In typical Marvel fashion, everything is top secret. While we know that Ward will appear in “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2, we aren’t sure what he’ll be doing. They can’t just have him in a holding cell for every episode, but Marvel is keeping those details under wraps.
