Ana De Armas In Tears After Receiving Standing Ovation For 'Blonde' [Watch]
Ana de Armas, who portrayed legendary actress Marilyn Monroe in "Blonde," broke down in tears after receiving a 14-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.
In a video shared Thursday on Twitter, the actress can be seen wearing a pink outfit and standing next to her co-star Adrien Brody, who portrayed Arthur Miller in the movie.
She gets emotional while acknowledging the audience's response and gives flying kisses to people around her.
In another video, the applause continues as director Andrew Dominik walks up to Armas and hugs her.
Armas hit the red carpet Thursday in a pink dress. The 34-year-old Cuban-Spanish actress completed her look with diamond studded jewelry around her neck and wrist.
"Blonde" is based on a 1999 novel of the same name, penned by Joyce Carol Oates. It was based on the life of Monroe.
Monroe, whose real name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, was born in Los Angeles in 1926. She died in 1962 at the age of 36 due to a barbiturate overdose.
The late actress was married to baseball player Joe DiMaggio from 1954 to 1955. She married Arthur Miller in 1956 but the couple got divorced in 1961, a year before her death.
"Blonde," which is produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Scott Andrew Robertson and Tracey Landon, will screen on Netflix from Sept. 28. Before that, the movie will release in select theaters on Sept. 16.
Apart from "Blonde," Armas will be seen in "Ghosted," which is helmed by Dexter Fletcher. The flick is penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film's plot has been kept under wraps.
The actress will also feature in the action thriller "Ballerina," which is helmed by Len Wiseman. The movie is penned by Shay Hatten and Emerald Fennell is responsible for the screenplay. The project is under pre-production.
