The Cody family thought it was a good idea to have a cop on their payroll, but on “Animal Kingdom” Season 5, Episode 12, the boys began to realize that teaming up with Officer Chadwick may have been a major mistake.

“The Codys resolve unfinished business and plan their biggest heist ever without Smurf (Ellen Barkin),” the “Loose Ends” synopsis teases.

In the promo video for the TNT series, two cops are seen approaching Deran (Jake Weary) near his bar.

In the previous episode, Officer Chadwick (Elliot Knight) decided to prove his loyalty to the Cody family by killing DEA Agent Livengood (David DeSantos) in front of them at Deran’s bar.

Livengood thought he and Chadwick were working together to force the Cody’s to give up Adrian’s (Spencer Treat Clark) location. However, Chadwick used it as an opportunity to get rid of the Cody family's main problem and force them into raising his pay.

Following Livengood’s murder, Chadwick left the Cody boys to get rid of the DEA agent’s body. Now that the Cody family has even more members of law enforcement watching them, will their plan to pull off the heist fall apart?

Elsewhere in the promo for “Animal Kingdom” Season 5, Episode 12, Pope (Shawn Hatosy) tells Officer Chadwick the Cody family has other ways of cutting ties.

Although the Cody boys are criminals, they do their best to avoid killing cops, which means Chadwick’s action went against their usual methods.

The Cody family is eager to cut ties with Chadwick, but from the looks of the “Loose Ends” promo video, he wants the family to pay up for his services.

How far will Officer Chadwick go to collect his payment from the Cody family?
