Blackpink's Jennie Shares How Tight Tour Schedules Impacted Her Health: 'I Became Sick'
Jennie Kim seems to have it all working out for her since she began her career with the girl group Blackpink. However, the 26-year-old singer shared that she fell sick a lot during their 2020 musical tours.
"I became sick, both mentally and physically, after the last world tour ended in 2020. This isn't something I want to share in too much detail with the fans," the "Pretty Savage" singer and dancer told Rolling Stone.
The Chanel global ambassador said her health suffered so much during the tours but she did not give a hint about it because she did not want fans, known as BLINKS, to worry about her.
"But for three years after debuting, we worked nonstop without resting. You know, we were young, in our early twenties. Our sleep systems were breaking down; we weren't eating properly; I wasn't hydrating myself — we did that for three to four years, and then started our tour," she explained.
Blackpink debuted in 2016 when Jennie was only 20 years old. At the time, she did not know how to take care of herself at such a hectic time in her life. The "SOLO" singer said constant traveling and back-to-back performances affected her immune system.
She told the outlet, “For a year and a half, I didn't have a home. If I touched something, I'd have an allergic reaction. I had no immune system at all, but we needed to keep touring. When I work out, I feel each and every muscle and ask, 'This hurts, Why?'" she told the outlet.
Jennie now knows how to take care of herself better than before. She does yoga or spends time with her pet to relieve stress. "For me, so far, when I'm good in my body, I feel happier and healthier," she said.
Blackpink, which is considered the most in-demand female singing quartet, is currently preparing for a new album and a concert tour.
"These days, because we're preparing for our comeback and planning our tour, I think every day, ‘OK, how do I prepare myself for my next busy two years?'" Jennie revealed.
The group's last project, "The Album," was released in 2020.
