John Legend has officially been announced as People’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” and his wife Chrissy Teigen had a lot to say about it. While showing immense support for her husband, she also couldn’t help but tease the EGOT winner on Twitter.

The magazine announced Legend as their “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2019 on Tuesday, November 12, revealing the singer had taken the title from English actor Idris Elba. Legend responded to the news simply by saying “Wow. Thank you, @People.”

In an interview with the magazine, Legend said: “I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure.”

As to why he’s nervous, Legend mentioned how people are going to pick him apart and really see if he’s the sexiest man alive. “I’m [also] following Idris Elba, which is not fair and is not nice to me!”

Teigen, who co-judges “Bring the Funny,” used the opportunity to tease her husband in a series of Tweets aimed at him and the situation. "All downhill from here," Teigan said in response to one of Legend’s Tweets.

Teigen also retweeted People’s announcement directly, adding the comment “oh for [expletive] sake baaaaaaahahahahaahah”

However, there were some who disagreed with the announcement, not thinking Legend deserved the title of “Sexiest Man Alive.” That’s when the former model/TV host jumped to her husband’s defense.

Previous “Sexiest man” winner Blake Shelton, who co-judges “The Voice” with Legend, also showed support by awarding his friend with a pair of booty shorts in front of “The Voice” audience, as was reported by People.
