Dakota Johnson Reveals How Mother Melanie Griffith 'Embarrasses' Her In Front Of People
Dakota Johnson, like many of us, does not like it when her parents — actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson — post throwback photos of her as a child on Instagram and “embarrass” her in front of people.
Appearing on “The Late Late Show With James Corden” Wednesday, Johnson opened up about an instance when her mother embarrassed her in front of her childhood crush, actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
“My mom is the most amazing person, but she embarrasses me in front of a lot of people,” she said. “Saw him in the airport and I was like, ‘Oh my god, Mom’ — I think I was 8 — ‘Oh my god, Mom, it's him, it's really him.’ I was like, ‘We're gonna be married. We're gonna be together forever...We're the same. We love each other.’”
Griffith immediately called Thomas over and Johnson recalled how she was trying to hide behind a plant. “It was obvious, I was very visible,” she said. “I couldn't hide behind the plant...it wasn't like a tree.”
About her parents sharing throwback photos of her on social media, the 32-year-old actress said, “I don't like it, but I also don't go on social media, so I don't find out about it until it's really baked into the Internet, and somebody will send it to me like, ‘Oh, you were so ugly — or you were so cute, when you had braces and a slicked back ponytail.’”
The “50 Shades of Gray” star disclosed that she had this conversation with her mother about not posting her photos of when she was just 12 years old, but Griffith “doesn't care.”
Here's a glimpse of the actress’ appearance on the show, shared on Twitter Thursday.
Griffith took to Instagram on National Daughters Day, celebrated on Sept. 25 every year, and shared a series of photos featuring the actress, from her young age to her recent photos.
On the work front, Johnson will be next seen in a comedy movie, “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” which is slated to release Saturday. She will also feature in movies like “Am I OK?”, “Persuasion” and "Daddio.”
