'Deadpool 3': How Ryan Reynolds Flick Can Be PG-13 Movie Under Marvel
KEY POINTS
- There is a way for "Deadpool 3" to be a PG-13 film
- Several PG-13 comics of Wade exist
- Wade teamedup with Marvel superheroes like Spider-Man in the comics
There has been a lot of discussion about “Deadpool 3” that has revolved around the kind of rating it will get. The movies from the franchise have been R-rated, but there have been some questions about it after Disney acquired Fox.
Disney’s acquisition is good news because it gives Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) the opportunity to team up with other Marvel superheroes. The character has been sharing the same superhero universe, but the team up raises questions about the kind of film it will be. Disney mostly makes PG-13 superhero movies and it is not known for making R-Rated films.
In a recent interview, Reynolds confirmed that he and the other members of the team are currently working on the next film of his character over at Marvel, Bustle reported. He didn’t share any details, but teased that it feels like they are in the “big leagues all of a sudden.”
Can “Deadpool 3” be made as a PG-13 under Marvel? If the filmmakers decide to take this route, there is a way for them to do it, CBR reported. There are many comics that the writers can use as source material in which the content isn’t aimed at adults.
The PG-13 comics of Wade allowed him to team up with popular Marvel characters like Wolverine, Spider-Man, and even the Avengers. Will the Merc with a Mouth do the same in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
So far, there is no indication that Marvel will be making the next Wade film as a PG-13. With the success of the first two movies, the studio may not want to change things up. Writer Paul Wernick also told Entertainment Weekly previously that they are being allowed to make another R-rated movie.
“Deadpool 3” doesn’t have a release date yet. Details about the cast and the plot are also being kept under the wraps as of this writing.
