  • Sadie Robertson described COVID-19 as a "dark sickness"
  • Robertson experienced severe chest pain, a loss of smell and taste and brain fog, among other symptoms
  • The "Duck Dynasty" alum said the disease took a toll on her mental health as well

“Duck Dynasty” alum Sadie Robertson has opened up about her harrowing battle with COVID-19, revealing that loneliness and depression were some of the worst parts of her ordeal.

Robertson first revealed she contracted COVID-19 Monday. Now, she has detailed her experience with the coronavirus during the Wednesday episode of her “WHOA That’s Good” podcast, explaining to her guests, mom Korie and sister Bella, how the sickness took a toll on her emotionally and physically.

“I actually tested negative but I still didn’t feel good about it, and then Christian got a fever and I was like, ‘Oh no, here it comes.’ And sure enough, two days later I was full-on COVID,” Robertson said, referring to husband Christian Huff.

The 23-year-old divulged that it started with a bad headache that was like “a migraine behind my eye,” followed by a cough and sore throat.

Other symptoms Robertson experienced were a loss of smell and taste, body pain, brain fog and difficulty in falling asleep despite feeling tired. Eventually, she had to go to the hospital to have her and her baby’s health checked, especially since she suffered from morning sickness as well.

Along with constant vomiting, the symptoms of COVID-19 made Robertson dehydrated on top of the severe chest pain she was suffering. Korie recalled how “pitiful” her daughter looked and how “brave” she was for going to the hospital alone.

The “Duck Dynasty” alum also noted that she suffered symptoms that weren’t “publicly talked about,” like depression and sadness, which her mom and sister also experienced.

“All the physical pain on top of the loneliness of it, the isolation of it, makes you feel this depression that is something that I’d never experienced before. I'm not going to lie, I cried a lot. It’s really a dark sickness,” Robertson said.

Robertson advised her fans to take the coronavirus seriously and to wear a mask.

“I am a very healthy person, I exercise a lot and eat pretty good. I take care of myself. I honestly thought if I got COVID it would not be that bad. But no, I had it horribly,” she concluded. “So don't think you're just going to be fine... it is a really tough sickness that you don't want to get.”
